Twenty‑five people have been rescued after a speedboat named Relax Aisha, travelling from Male' City to A.A. Thoddoo, started sinking on Monday evening.
Marine Police said the vessel issued a distress call at 17:30 while en route to Thoddoo, after which all 25 passengers on board were safely rescued.
The Marine Police urged travellers to exercise heightened caution at sea during this period.
Large numbers of people are travelling across the country for the Eid holidays, while the Maldives Meteorological Service has forecast bad weather for most regions.
Authorities warn that severe weather significantly increases the risk of maritime incidents, making it essential for travellers to take necessary safety precautions to protect their lives and property.
