President Muizzu accorded official ceremonial welcome in Sri Lanka

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu was accorded an official ceremonial welcome on, marking the commencement of his state visit to Sri Lanka.

The ceremony took place on Monday at the Presidential Secretariat in Colombo.

President Muizzu, who is on a four-day state visit, was welcomed by Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake.

The ceremony commenced with a gun salute, after which President Muizzu inspected the guard of honor presented by the Sri Lankan tri-forces.

Following the honors, the two leaders took part in the introduction of delegations.

During this segment, President Muizzu was introduced to Sri Lanka's cabinet ministers and senior government officials, while members of the Maldivian delegation were introduced to President Dissanayake.

President Muizzu was accompanied at the ceremony by First Lady Sajidha Mohamed, alongside cabinet ministers and senior government officials.

First Lady Sajidha Mohamed accompanied the President at the ceremony, alongside Cabinet Ministers and senior Government officials of the Maldives.

The two leaders later joined for an official photograph together, after which President Muizzu signed the visitors book.

Maldives and Sri Lanka established formal diplomatic ties on July 26, 1965. The two countries are marking the 61st anniversary of relations this year.
