Dhiffushi records highest rainfall in past 24 hours

According to figures released by the Maldives Meteorological Service (Met Office), K. Dhiffushi experienced the highest rainfall in the Maldives over the last 24 hours.

Records from 8:00am on Wednesday to 8:00am on Thursday indicate that Dhiffushi saw 26.9 millimeters of rain, while Hulhulé recorded the second-highest amount at 22.5 millimeters.

Further Met Office data shows that R. Alifushi saw 19.2 millimeters of rainfall, followed by AA. Thoddoo with 11.4 millimeters and K. Gaafaru with 7.8 millimeters. Although the central atolls saw comparatively heavier rainfall, some southern islands also experienced light showers, with M. Muli recording 4.2 millimeters and GDh. Faresmaathodaa recording 2.8 millimeters.

During the same period, the lowest rainfall was recorded in B. Goidhoo and F. Nilandhoo, both receiving 0.2 millimeters. In addition, B. Dharavandhoo recorded 0.5 millimeters, while S. Gan received 1.0 millimeters of rain.

As bad weather persists across different parts of the country, authorities are urging the public to remain cautious. The Met Office has particularly advised seafarers to stay updated with the latest weather information before traveling.
