Housing Minister Dr. Abdulla Muthalib says the conditions for applying for flats under the government’s housing policy continue to be amended even as the application deadline approaches.

Applications for the flats opened on January 18 this year. The deadline has since been extended to April 30.

With just over two weeks remaining, the government is still revising the eligibility criteria.

Speaking on Sunday, Minister Muthalib said the category for persons with disabilities is being amended under the Housing for All policy. The change will allow parents of people with disabilities to apply under that category.

The regulation has undergone several revisions since applications opened in January.

One of the major changes involved the “Binveriyaa” special scheme. Initially, individuals who were unable to apply for land under the former President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih’s Binveriyaa scheme, and who scored 75 points under the MDP government’s flat scheme, were to receive two‑bedroom units. The regulation has now been amended so that these flats will instead be allocated to the poorest applicants.

A special category for people with disabilities was also introduced two months after applications opened, along with several other adjustments.

Under the Housing for All policy, the government plans to allocate 7,900 flats and 15,000 land plots. Of the flats, 4,000 are designated for Male' City residents, 1,500 for long‑term non‑resident applicants living in the city, and 2,400 for special categories.
