President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said that holding the country’s two main elections together would reduce the likelihood of any party gaining a supermajority and help eliminate corruption.

The President made the remarks while speaking at a march organised by the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC) to conclude its campaign for the upcoming council elections.

He argued that combining the elections would create a more balanced political environment and prevent excessive concentration of power, which he said can lead to corruption.

The President’s comments come as the ruling party intensified its campaign efforts ahead of the vote and during a closing rally held in Male' city on Friday.
