Probe launched into newborn baby’s sudden death in Utheemu

Maldives Police Service has initiated an investigation following the death of a newborn baby who was declared dead on arrival at HA. Utheemu Health Centre.

In a statement issued to the media on Friday, police said they received a report at around 10:07am on Wednesday after a nine-day-old baby was brought to the health centre dead. 

Police noted that the case was reported to them by the Utheemu Health Centre.

Authorities confirmed that an inquiry is ongoing but did not provide any additional information.
