294,876 people eligible to vote in local council and WDC elections

The Elections Commission (EC) has released the permanent list of voters for the Local Council Elections and the Women’s Development Committee Elections scheduled to take place on April 4.

In addition to the two elections, Maldivians will also be voting the same day on a referendum on holding the Presidential Elections and the Parliamentary Elections concurrently.

The voter’s list released by the EC shows 294,876 people are eligible to vote on April 4. This includes 150,370 men and 144,506 women.

The EC has announced that voting will not take place overseas.

Voters will be electing representatives to 1,356 seats; 678 seats in local councils and 678 in WDCs.
