MIFCO and JETRO explore opportunities to expand Maldivian fisheries products in Japanese market

The Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO) and the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) have engaged in discussions aimed at expanding business opportunities and strengthening the presence of Maldivian fisheries products in the Japanese market.

According to MIFCO, these discussions took place on Monday during a meeting held at JETRO’s Tokyo headquarters.

MIFCO said that the discussions focused on trade promotion, technical collaboration, and initiatives to increase visibility among Japanese consumers and industry stakeholders.

MIFCO was represented by Athif Shakoor, Strategic Consultant, and Aminath Saniyya Shareef, General Manager of Corporate Affairs.

The meeting was also attended by Ahmed Adil, Deputy Ambassador and Chargé d’Affaires, and Khadheeja Samha, Second Secretary, from the Embassy of the Maldives in Japan.

MIFCO said that the engagement reflects the company’s ongoing efforts to elevate the international profile of the Maldives’ fisheries sector and expand export opportunities in key global markets.

Through strengthened partnerships with organizations such as JETRO, MIFCO aims to further promote Maldivian fisheries products and support the sustainable growth of the Maldives’ fisheries industry in international markets.
