Maldive Gas and Villa have resumed selling 10‑kilogram gas cylinders after several days of reduced supply.

Maldive Gas, a subsidiary of state‑owned STO, had recently limited sales to 7kg cylinders, prompting public complaints over delays and difficulties in securing refills. Villa also reduced its gas sales during the same period.

Speaking to Sun, STO said a new shipment has now arrived, allowing the company to restart sales of 10kg cylinders from Tuesday. The company assured that there will be no gas shortages during Ramadan, unlike previous years.

Villa also confirmed that its earlier issues have been resolved and that it has resumed selling 10kg cylinders.

On Monday, STO attributed the temporary rationing to regional supply shocks in the global market. Both major importers have periodically rationed gas in the past when supply fluctuations occurred.

STO said full‑capacity sales would resume this week, which has now taken effect.
