Sun Siyam Group’s chairman and managing director Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, who also serves as the parliamentary representative for Dh. Meedhoo constituency, has emphasized the importance of training youths in the field of tourism and media and prioritizing Maldivians for key employment opportunities.
Speaking during the ceremony held at Manhattan Business Hotel to commemorate the anniversary of Sun Siyam Media – which operates platforms such as Sun Online, SSTV and Sun Play – Siyam said he founded the media organization with a clear mission: to deliver news and information to the public without bias.
He reflected on many difficulties the media organization has faced over the years, particularly the pressures exerted by different administrations. Despite these challenges, he emphasized that Sun Siyam Media has remained firm in its dedication to unbiased reporting and continues to advocate for the rights and interests of the people.
Siyam stressed that any endeavor should be measured by its ability to benefit society. In this regard, he noted that media activities should be carried out in a way that produces meaningful and positive social impact.
He underscored that SSTV, under the umbrella of Sun Siyam media, creates income opportunities for individuals residing in islands and moreover, provides a platform for aspiring youths and children interested in the field.
"This is truly our vision—to create meaningful opportunities for Maldivians," he said.
Pointing out that Maldives has a small population, Siyam highlighted the importance of increasing local participation within the tourism sector.
"It is our responsibility ensure that our companies educate, train and familiarize Maldivians for the industry," he said, adding Maldivians must specifically be rained for high-level positions with high salaries.
Reiterating the importance of offering quality employment to Maldivian citizens, Siyam noted the importance of providing meaningful, high-quality job opportunities for Maldivians, stressing the need to maintain a strong emphasis on professional growth. He also expressed satisfaction with the ongoing initiatives of Sun Siyam Media to train young people and create opportunities that positively impact the greater community.
Sharing a personal sentiment, he added, "My father always told me aim for the best in whatever I am doing, or not to do them at all. This is something we must all consider; whatever we do, it must adhere to the highest standard, benefits others and serves the common good.”
