A woman has been detained by the police on suspicion of grooming, exploiting and sexually abusing a young boy.
Fathimath Reema, 35, was arrested on December 29 in a joint operation by the Family and Child Protection Department and Crime Intelligence Department.
The police publicly disclosed her arrest on Monday.
According to the police, her latest remand extension expires on February 28.
She is accused of grooming, exploiting and sexually abusing a 15-year-old boy.
The case is under further investigation by the police.
Earlier in February, the police said that they were making it a special priority to investigate individuals who groom children and take advantage of their vulnerability to involve them drug-related crimes, gang crime, and acts of sexual abuse.
The police said they are working on identifying such individuals, and working with other relevant agencies to ensure they are punished to the full extent of the law.
