The Ministry of Health has announced the recruitment of 60 laboratory technicians as part of the government’s plan to establish diagnostic facilities on every inhabited island this year.
According to the ministry, the technicians will be deployed to hospitals and health centres under its mandate. The salary package totals MVR 12,910, consisting of:
Basic salary: MVR 5,610
Service allowance: MVR 2,500
Accommodation allowance: MVR 3,000
Food allowance: MVR 1,800
To qualify, applicants must hold a diploma in laboratory technology and have two years of experience in the field. A permanent basic registration certificate is also required. Priority will be given to candidates under the age of 45.
Applications may be submitted directly or through registered recruitment agencies, with each agency allowed to submit up to five applications. The deadline for applications is Tuesday.
The recruitment drive follows Health Minister Abdulla Nazim Ibrahim’s announcement last Friday that strengthening diagnostic services in the atolls is one of the government’s top priorities. He said President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has placed particular emphasis on ensuring laboratory access even in islands with small populations.
Nazim noted that when the administration began its work, 76 islands lacked laboratory services. He said the government is now working to ensure that every island will have a functioning laboratory within this year.
