Two missing as cargo boat with four onboard capsizes

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) states a search is underway for two people who went missing after a cargo boat with four onboard capsized.

The cargo boat, ‘Balma 6’, capsized near Taj Exotica Resort.

MNDF said a team of divers from Male’ Area Command Coastguard’s second squadron’s divers is actively at the scene of the incident, where they are searching for the two missing people.

According to the authority, two out of the four people onboard were rescued by a vessel that was passing the area.

Maldives Police Service identified the missing persons as a Maldivian and an expatriate. The Police added that they are also engaged in efforts to locate the missing persons.
