Police are investigating a burglary at the Maldivian office in Hoarafushi Airport after two cargo boxes were stolen in the early hours of Sunday.

According to police, the break‑in was reported at 03:58 on Sunday morning. Officers said the thieves forced their way into the office before taking two boxes of cargo. Police have not disclosed the contents of the stolen boxes.

No arrests have been made so far, and the investigation is ongoing.

The incident comes amid renewed concerns over airport security. On the morning of October 27, a major robbery took place at Velana International Airport, where a group arrived by taxi, stole suitcases containing cash, and fled by speedboat. Homeland Security Minister Ali Ihusaan later said the launch used in the getaway had been seized, though police have yet to reveal what happened to the missing money.
