The President, via a post on X on Friday, congratulated residents of HA. Dhidhdhoo on the inauguration of the island’s new Islamic centre. The facility includes an Islamic library and a branch of the Centre for the Holy Qur’an.
In his post, said construction on 15 new mosques across the Maldives is scheduled for completion and inauguration before next Ramadan.
Emphasising the Government’s commitment to completing ongoing projects, President Muizzu highlighted the goal of finishing key works before Ramadan. He noted that a mosque in Hulhumalé Phase II is among the projects scheduled for completion within this timeframe. To further address the shortage of permanent mosques in the area, the President announced that construction of another mosque in Hulhumalé Phase II will commence in December.
He reaffirmed that the Government’s broader objective in developing mosques and Islamic centres across the country is to reinforce Islamic unity and uphold the values and traditions of the faith. The President concluded his message with a prayer for the prosperity and success of the Maldivian people.
