100 housing units in Gan contracted to HDC; work on 300 housing units to proceed this year

The government has contracted the development of 100 housing units in L. Gan, with physical works on 300 housing units on the island to proceed simultaneously this year.

The agreement for the 100 housing units was awarded to state-owned Housing Development Corporation (HDC) during a ceremony held last night at Gan as part of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s tour of all residential islands in Laamu Atoll.

The agreement was signed by Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muthalib and HDC’s Deputy Managing Director Mohamed Asbaah Ali Naseer.

According to Housing Ministry, the development of the three-bedroom 100 housing units was contracted to be completed within 410 days.

Speaking with Gan residents last night, President Muizzu said physical works on the development of 300 housing units in Gan will proceed simultaneously this year, which includes that 100 units will be constructed under the agreement formalized last night, 100 units currently under development, and an additional 100 units are scheduled for construction this year.

According to Gan Council, the island’s population is currently at 5,415.
