The Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) issued an alert on Sunday, advising seafarers to be on the lookout for floating debris following the sinking of a diving boat off AA. Rasdhoo.

In a statement on Sunday, the MNDF said that the diving boat ‘Scuba’ sank 12 nautical miles east of Alihuras Sea – the channel in between V. Atoll and M. Atoll – while en route to Rasdhoo.

The MNDF did not say when the incident took place or mention any injuries.

The MNDF said that it has been informed that debris from the boat is floating towards the east of Rasdhoo.

The authority advised all seafarers traveling in the area, especially those traveling at night, to be extra vigilant.

The incident comes amid heavy rain, thunderstorms, strong winds and rough seas across the Maldives.
