Outdoor AC unit catches fire, damaging Male’ apartment

A fire broke out at an apartment in the Maafannu district of Male’ City on Sunday, resulting in massive damages.

According to the Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF), the incident took place at an apartment on the sixth floor of M. Afza.

The was reported to the Fire and Rescue Service at around 07:43 am.

Firefighters were immediately deployed to the location, and managed to put out the fire at 07:59 am.

According to the MNDF, the fire originated from the outdoor air conditioning unit installed at the apartment.

While the incident did not result in any injuries, the fire spread inside the apartment, causing massive damages to the living room, kitchen, and bedroom.

The case is also being monitored by the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA).
