Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has announced the Ministry’s decision to cover all expenses of Imams selected for PhD courses announced by the Maldives National University (MNU).
MNU has opened applications for PhD in Islamic Studies and PhD in Islamic Shariah.
Minister Shaheem, via a message to the media on Tuesday, said the Ministry will sponsor all expenses of Imams selected for these courses, in addition to providing pocket money.
“This, we urge as many people to apply in order to stand the chance to be selected. It is an electoral pledge of the President to fund PhD studies of Imams,” he added.
Minister Shaheem extended gratitude to MNU for facilitating opportunities for PhD studies in Islamic fields.
The two courses will be run by MNU’s Faculty of Shariah and Law. Applications for the courses can be submitted via the university’s online portal before 14:00pm on September 30th.
The courses are priced at MVR 14,340 per semester.
Prospective applicants must hold a level seven or eight qualification recognized by Maldives Qualification Authority (MQA) in a related field and have experience in research work. The applicant is required to submit a proposal in the field they are applying for alongside the application.
