President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has reiterated his pledge that a multitude of projects are slated for initiation and completion nationwide in the immediate future.
Addressing the populace of B. Fehendhoo on Tuesday, the President affirmed that the commitments extended to the people stem from his unwavering determination and are made with sincere good faith.
The President noted that development projects are being launched despite ongoing efforts to surmount the economic challenges confronting the Maldives.
"Hopefully, in the coming months, we will start a lot of projects in all parts of the country in the same way. We'll see the end of it too," he stated.
He further articulated his policy of extending banking and police services even to the most diminutive villages.
The President highlighted that the execution of these projects was also announced in this year's presidential statement.
The President additionally detailed his prepared and planned initiatives for the residents of Fehendhoo:
The water and sewerage project is currently with MWSC, and the requisite materials have been procured. Authorization has been granted for the recruitment of foreign workers due to a scarcity of local personnel in Fehendhoo.
Assistance will be provided for supplying teachers to Fehendhoo School from the 6th grade upwards; should a shortage persist, training and education will be offered.
Individuals will be sought to aid in the development of the health center, with the project anticipated to commence within the current financial year.
Plans are in place for the construction of a new, standard-compliant football field.
The existing football ground will undergo renovation. Work on a volleyball court, a fitness and recreation center, and a children's park is set to begin this year.
A mosque is slated for inclusion in next year's budget.
Next year, issues pertaining to dam stability and erosion will be addressed.
The President's assurance of numerous projects comes at a time when concerns have been raised by many regarding the stagnation of projects in the Maldives.
According to the Ministry of Finance, spending on projects has witnessed a sharp decline. The latest figures released by the ministry indicate a 17.4 percent reduction in government expenditure on projects.
