Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) has begun assisting a boat on route to Lh. Naifaru with 40 aboard which got stranded after the vessel’s engine stalled.
MNDF said they received a report at approximately 8:15am this morning regarding a stranded boat named ‘Lifeline’ east of K. Kaashidhoo due to an engine stall.
The authority added that its Northern Area Command’s Coastguard’s First Squadron is providing assistance in transporting women and children aboard the vessel to Naifaru. In this regard, MNDF detailed that two harbor craft boats and a gulf craft boat are being used for this operation.
Notably, Maldives is experiencing severe weather conditions. As such, MNDF has urged against any unessential sea travel due to rough seas.
