Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) has set up a flu clinic for pilgrims returning after completing Hajj pilgrimage.
Each year, there is an increase in the spread of diseases like the flu that coincides with the return of pilgrims. As such, health authorities implement measures to minimize the spread of such diseases.
IGMH, on Friday, announced that they have set up a dedicated flu clinic in the hospital for pilgrims to ensure convenient access to medical care. The hospital has urged pilgrims with symptoms of flu that require medical assistance to visit the clinic.
The clinic will be open from 10:00am to 10:00pm every day. Services provided at the clinic include doctor consultations and taking blood samples.
The clinic is located at IGMH’s OPD Room No: 10, near the former General Outpatient Department (GOPD) area.
According to IGMH, those seeking services of the flu clinic will first have to go to the hospital’s ER triage with a token number from Queuebee token system for the flu clinic.
The hospital has urged those visiting the hospital for doctor consultation to wear masks.
A total of 1,000 Maldivians traveled to Saudi Arabia for Hajj pilgrimage this year.
The pilgrims began returning to Maldives today, with the first batch of pilgrims landing in Velana International Airport at approximately 14:00pm.
Health Protection Agency (HPA) has advised against taking children when going to receive pilgrims at the airport.
