The Environment Protection Agency (EPA) on Wednesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the South China Sea Institute of Oceanology of the Chinese Academy of Sciences.
The agreement was signed in a ceremony held at the Tourism and Environment Ministry headquarters in Male’.

According to the ministry, the agreement covers technological cooperation technological cooperation on environmental protection and surveys of the ocean.
The ministry described the agreement as a huge step in efforts to protect the environment, and one that will open new avenues for research of Maldivian waters.
