Majeedhiyya School's alumni perform at the second 'Majeedhee Dhanmaru' concert on February 16, 2025.
Majeediyya School’s alumni put on another brilliant performance before a full house at the Olympus Cinema on Sunday night, in the second ‘Majeedhee Dhanmaru’ concert held to celebrate the countdown to the school’s 100th anniversary.
Organized by Majeediyya’s alumni as part of 1,000-day countdown celebrations to mark the country’s first public school’s 100th anniversary, the first ‘Majeedhee Dhanmaru’ concert was held in July last year.
The second concert saw performances from The Centenary Band – composed of alumni who played music during their schooldays – as well as other artists the school has produced over the years.
The lineup included the likes of Ahmed Athif (X-ray Athif), Maizan Ali Manik (Maizan Alibe), Ahmed Sunil, Panama Shafeeq, Shamoon Hameed, Abdulla Shamal, Fayaz Mansoor, Mohamed Suhail, and Jewel – who had also performed at the first concert – who were joined by artists the likes of Yauqoob, Thola, Sham and Qiyas.
The concert also saw a special appearance from Ameeniyya School’s alumni, who performed ‘Minivan Vayaa.”
Majeediyya School’s alumnus Ameen Faisal, the lead organizer of ‘Majeedhee Dhanmaru’, described the second concert as a “success.”
“It was a highly successful show. We are very pleased. All the tickets sold out and it was a full house. We were even asked to hold an additional concert because the tickets sold out,” he said.
SSTV, the media partner of ‘Majeedhee Dhanmaru’, is set to air the full recording of the concert soon.
Established on April 19, 1927, Majeediyya School has educated tens of thousands of students, who are spread out across the country. Ameen said that the alumni are preparing to hold an edition of the ‘Majeedhee Dhanmaru’ concern in Addu City on August 27.
