The Parliament’s Independent Institutions Committee has opened an inquiry into an allegation of sexual harassment against Fazeen Mohamed, the vice president of Maldives Broadcasting Commission (Broadcom).

The allegation of sexual harassment against Fazeen was reportedly raised by a female employee at the commission.

Fazeen confirmed to Sun on Wednesday afternoon that he is the subject of a parliamentary inquiry over the allegation.

He declined to make any further comment.

Fazeen was appointed to the Broadcom in March 2021. In January 2023, Fazeen was elected as the vice president of the commission, following Ahmed Gais’ resignation.

Prior to his appointment to BroadCom, Fazeen served as a journalist at Channel News Maldives (CNM), and later, RaajjeTV.
