Parliament extends contract with Niusha, Filza and Tholhath

The Parliament decided by unanimous vote on Monday to extend the contracts for the top administrative figures at the legislative assembly; Secretary General Fathimath Niusha, Counsel General Filza and Sergeant-at-arms Major General (Retired) Tholhath Hassan.

The Parliament took the floor vote regarding extending their contracts on Monday afternoon.

Niusha received the Parliament’s backing with a unanimous vote of 79, while Filza and Tholhath received backing with unanimous votes of 80 each.

The Parliament’s standing order requires the appointment of a Secretary General, Counsel General and Sergeant-at-arms before the end of the first two sessions of a new parliamentary assembly.

The incumbent assembly had taken office back in May, and is now in its second session.
