Four local youths, suspected of their involvement gang violence with sharp objects have been remanded until the investigation and trial on them conclude.
Criminal Court sentenced the remand until sentencing on two individuals aged 21, a 22-year-old suspect and a 23-year-old suspect.
According to the Criminal Court order, the prosecution has submitted sufficient evidence against all four, which include investigation reports, CCTV footage, intelligence report and other evidences.
The court also observed that the reason for the violence among other details were provided thoroughly in the intelligence report. Evidences proving bodily harm had been adduced in the case as well.
The court further highlighted that the suspects had travelled out of town with intention to cause harm. All four had initially been produced at the Alif Dhaalu atoll Mahibadhoo court, which had identified jurisdiction as the court of first instance.
Criminal Court further held that their summoning to the court for remand hearing did not violate the Criminal Procedure Code as well. The order further specified they will be remanded at Dhoonidhoo penitentiary.
