Vice President Hussain Mohamed Latheef, on Friday, attended the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) 2024.
The ceremony was also attended by head of the Commonwealth, His Majesty King Charles III, and delegations from Commonwealth nations.
VP Latheef was accompanied by the Maldives delegation at the ceremony which included Foreign Minister Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, Sports Minister Abdulla Rafiu and High Commissioner of Maldives to the UK Dr. Iruthisham Adam.
The delegations were officially welcomed to the CHOGM by Prime Minister of Samoa Naomi Mata’afa.
The Vice President also participated in the official family photograph of delegation heads attending CHOGM 2024.
Commonwealth leaders gather for the CHOGM every two years, hosted by different member countries.
This year, in a first, CHOGM is being held in a Small Island Developing State (SIDS) in the Pacific. The theme of CHOGM 2024 is ‘One Resilient Common Future: Transforming our Common Wealth’.
