Man who threatened Pres Muizzu arrested upon return to Maldives

The man accused of issuing a death threat against President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu on social media was arrested on Tuesday night, upon return to Male’ from overseas.

The police identified the suspect as Abdulla Miyadh, 40, G. Sansange Aage, K. Male’.

According to the police, Miyadh is believed to be the person behind Facebook accounts used to threaten to kill and harm multiple state officials, including President Muizzu, as well as other individuals.

The police said he also shared posts promoting same-sex relations.

“He was arrested tonight upon return to Maldives from overseas,” said police.

The case is under investigation by the police.
