Indian PM Modi invited to make state visit to Maldives

Maldivian President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has invited Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi to make a state visit to the Maldives.

President Muizzu, who is on a five-day state visit to India, announced that he had issued the invitation while delivering a joint press statement with PM Modi following bilateral talks at the Hyderabad House in New Delhi on Monday afternoon.

Next year will mark the 60th anniversary of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between Male’ and Delhi.

President Muizzu invited PM Modi to visit the Maldives next year to celebrate the occasion.

“Next year we will be marking the 60th anniversary of the establishment of formal diplomatic relations between our two countries. I have invited Prime Minister Modi to undertake a state visit to the Maldives to commemorate this occasion,” he said.

He also reiterated Maldives’ commitment to strengthening India relations.

“The Maldives will remain a true friend, committed to our shared vision of peace and development in our countries and our region,” he said.

“We are fully committed to strengthening our cooperation with India across a broad spectrum of areas, including high-level exchanges that foster deeper understanding and friendship between our nations.”
