Kulhudhuffushi man found dead in city’s lagoon

A man has been found dead in the lagoon of Kulhudhuffushi, a city located in northern Maldives.

The man’s body was recovered from the lagoon by police officers with the aid of civilians.

Mohamed Moosa, a spokesperson from the Kulhudhuffushi Regional Hospital, told Sun that the man, who he identified as a 36-year-old local, was brought in at 08:38 am on Wednesday.

He was already deceased when brought in, confirmed Moosa.

Kulhudhuffushi City’s deputy mayor Ali Ahmed identified the deceased as Mohamed Hassan, 36, Daisyfehi, Kulhudhuffushi.

The circumstances of his death are unclear at this point.

The police have yet to make an official comment regarding the case, but are operating at the lagoon area and at the hospital.

The latest death comes a day after a woman was found dead in N. Holhudhoo with visible injuries on her body. Her body has been transported to the capital for further investigation.
