Plot in front of Hulhumale’ Cemetery allocated to park four-wheelers

Transport Ministry has decided to allocate the land plot in front of Hulhumale’ Cemetry to park four-wheeled vehicles.

Speaking during a press conference at the area on Monday, Transport Minister Mohamed Ameen said the 50,000 square feet from the 90,000 square feet plot will be allocated for four-wheeled vehicles.

Meanwhile, the Minister said the remaining 40,000 square feet will be allocated to store illegally parked vehicles that are towed from Hulhumale’ roads. He added that the plot will be opened for parking within the next two days.

The Minister noted that efforts were presently underway to level the ground before the plot is opened for parking.

As per the Minister, the plot will be utilized as a parking space until the parking buildings being developed in Hulhumale’ are completed.

“This is among many efforts that is underway with prioritization by the President. HDC has a huge plan for the plot. Until the plan is implemented, the plot can be used (for parking),” he said.

Notably, a temporary plot was allocated from Hulhumale’ Phase II for parking on August 22nd to be used until the unregularized vehicles in Male’ area are regularized.

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) has opened bids for those interested in developing 15 parling buildings in Hulhumale’ as part of efforts to resolve the lack of parking space.

HDC’s Managing Director Ibrahim Fazrul Rasheed had earlier remarked that the goal is to resolve the longstanding parking issue in Male’ area within the next two years.
