Cases of viral fever and flu drop

The reported cases of viral fever and flu have begun to decline, according to the latest statistics shared by the Health Protection Agency (HPA).

Statistics shared by HPA on Tuesday show a decline in cases of both viral fever and flu in the third week of this month, compared to the second week.

Medical facilities across the country recorded 2,700 cases of viral fever in the second week. This dropped to 2,110 cases in the third week – showing a decline of 21.9 percent.

The country also recorded 6,861 cases of flu in the second week. This dropped to 6,132 cases in the third week – showing a decline of 10.6 percent.

The highest number of cases of viral fever was recorded from the Male’ area, HDh. Atoll and R. Atoll. Meanwhile, the highest number of cases of flu was recorded from Male’, L. Atoll and R. Atoll.

The HPA had issued warnings over a possible increase in cases viral fever, flu and mosquito-borne diseases over the last few weeks, amid intense monsoon rains.
