The Elections Commission (EC) has announced it will hold a special quiz, titled “Baaraky Faahaga Quiz”, to commemorate this year’s Voters’ Day.

The quiz program will begin on Friday, August 16th and last until August 25th, EC said.

EC said it decided on the contest as a means to raise awareness among the public regarding the authority’s mandate and tasks. The quiz is designed to assess public knowledge about elections, the electoral system, and political parties.

The quiz contest will run on EC’s official Facebook page, and will select the winners for first, second, and third place based on the number of questions they accurately answer. In the case where more than one person carries the same marks, the winner will be selected through a draw.

EC has also announced cash prizes for the winners, that include:

1st Place Winner: MVR 3,000

2nd Place Winner: MVR 2,000

3rd Place Winner: MVR 1,000

Under the contest, EC will ask five questions every day via a separate link shared on Facebook. Participants will be required to choose the best answer out of three options and press submit.

The questions will be posted everyday between 10:00hrs and 12:00hrs. Participants can submit their answers before 12:00hrs of the following day, after which the link will change.

Participants are also required to fill in their full legal names, mobile phone number and national ID Card to submit their responses. If a participant sends multiple responses from the same contact, the most recent answers of theirs will be accepted.

EC further said that its members, staff, their family members including spouses and children cannot participate in the quiz.

Information regarding the quiz is now available from EC’s official website, and added that in the case where a situation not prescribed in the regulation arises, the commission will resolve it.
