President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu and the Head of Cyber Security of United Arab Emirates (UAE), Dr. Mohamed Al Kuwaiti, met on Wednesday to discuss on enhancing cooperation in cyber security and data protection.
Al Kuwaiti paid a courtesy call on President Muizzu at the President’s Office, where the two discussed on a range of topics.
While speaking at the meeting, President Muizzu welcomed the UAE’s Head of Cyber Security to the Maldives spoke about the long-standing friendly ties between the two countries.
Muizzu also expressed gratitude to the leadership and UAE government, “for the considerable assistance and opportunities” granted to the Maldives over the years. President Muizzu said this stands as a testament to the “brotherly relations” between the two countries.
Besides cyber security and data protection enhancement, the two also discussed on mitigating misinformation and disinformation, and the importance of facilitating training opportunities for officials to stay up to date with technological advancements.
At the meeting, Muizzu also expressed his gratitude to UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his “vision and leadership in promoting strategic partnerships” between the Maldives and UAE.
He also stressed on the ongoing projects in the Maldives with UAE’s assistance to enhance law enforcement capacity.
The two concluded the meeting by reaffirming their commitment to working towards enhancing cooperation in areas of mutual interest between the two nations.
