Foreign Minister Moosa Zameer has reiterated that Maldives’ commitment to strengthening the existing cooperation and friendship between Maldives and India.
He made the remark in a post on X welcoming India’s External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar who arrived in the Maldives on Friday evening on an official visit.
In his post, Minister Zameer said both of them will continue discussions on all areas of Maldives-India bilateral cooperation and reinforce the shared commitment to deepen the partnership during Minister Jaishankar’s visit.

Minister Zameer welcomed Minister Jaishankar at Velana International Airport upon his arrival. He had visited the Foreign Ministry as part of this trip.
In a statement on Thursday, Maldivian Foreign Ministry said Minister Jaishankar is undertaking the visit from August 9th to August 11th at the invitation of his Maldivian counterpart.
As per the Ministry, Minister Jaishankar, during this trip, will pay a courtesy call on President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
He will also hold official talks with his counterpart, Minister Zameer, to review the existing bilateral cooperation. Both ministers are also set to inaugurate the completed projects under the High Impact Community Development Projects (HICDP) and Line of Credit facility of EXIM Bank of India and witness the exchange of Memorandum of Understanding on areas for capacity building, commerce and trade.
