Elderly man robbed at knifepoint inside Male’ room

An elderly man visiting Male’ City for medical purposes was robbed by two people at knifepoint who forced their way into the room he was renting in the city.

Police, in response to a social media post made by the man’s son, said they received a report on Tuesday after a 62-year-old man was robbed by two people who forced their way into the room he was renting in Male’ City and threatened him.

Police said the man was in Male’ for medical purposes and identified the items stolen from him as money and a mobile phone. However, they did not disclose the exact sum of the money stolen.

No arrests have been made in connection to the case so far., however, the Police said the case is under further investigation.

Samah Ahmed, the son of the elderly man via a post on X, said two people forced their way inside the room his father was renting at approximately 14:00pm on Tuesday afternoon and held him hostage at knifepoint to rob him of his money and mobile phone.

He shared a picture of his father’s arm, which is severely bruised.

There has been a sharp increase in theft and robbery recently, with cases being reported almost daily.
