Local fisherman from Gaafu Dhaalu Gadhdhoo, has caught a 155-kilogram yellowfin tuna in his recent solo fishing trip.

Ibrahim Hassan, had journeyed on a small dinghy to catch the large fish according to reports. He spoke with ‘Sun’ detailing how he succeeded in making the catch.

On Monday, Ibrahim along with a friend ventured out to the sea on a small dinghy for net fishing.

The two had dropped a fishing line to catch the large fish. Owing to the size of the fish, the two fishermen had to exert significant force to reel it into the vessel, after which Ibrahim said, they had been exhausted.

“The two of us had been completely exhausted by the time we succeeded reeling the fish into the dinghy. But what is destined, will happen,” a triumphant Ibrahim said.

The 61-year-old fisherman had been an active fisher earlier, but stepped away from the field to attend a full-time job at Fenaka Corporation where he had been employed the last three years.

Ibrahim however said he ventures into the sea occasionally to fish for leisure.

Previously in April 2018, a local fisher had caught a 231-kilogram yellowfin tuna as well.
