MMPRC appoints two new board members

Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) on Saturday evening, announced appointment of two new board members.

The Maldives tourism board appointed Abdul Sameeu Imad and Aishath Hameed as the new board members.

While two new members have been appointed to MMPRC's board, its Managing Director at the beginning of the current administration, Fathimath Thaufeeq was dismissed from her position earlier in May.

Earlier, MMPRC Chairperson Aisha Nurain Janah resigned as well while one of its board member, Rafil Mohamed, resigned in April this year as well.

After Fathimath was dismissed, management of the tourism board was temporarily assigned to MMPRC Deputy Managing Director Bassam Adam.

However, in June, Table Tennis Association's Deputy President Ibrahim Shiury was appointed to lead the board as the new Managing Director.

While there were rumors about a falling out between MMPRC top-brass and Minister of Tourism Ibrahim Faisal, regarding the operations of the tourism board, Minister Faisal denied these rumors.

The Maldives government, reflecting this, announced it brought changes to enhance more effectiveness of its operations.
