Aasandha Company has decided to drop Manipal Hospital from its list of medical institutions under coverage.

Aasandha said that it decided to drop Manipal Hospital temporarily for new patients, owing to price hikes in the hospital's services.

Speaking with 'Sun', Aasandha Managing Director Aminath Zeeniya confirmed this, and were now discussing with the hospital over possible price revisions.

"We are now trying to negotiate the prices to a more affordable range, after which we will include the hospital under Aasandha coverage," Zeeniya said.

However, patients that require follow-up treatment will still get the services covered under the state-initiated health insurance scheme, Zeeniya confirmed.

She did not specify when coverage will be extended to new patients.

Indian hospitals and medical institutions are most frequently visited by Maldivian patients.

Local patients have been expressing concern after Aasandha dropped the hospital from its coverage.
