Elite Runners' "Hulhumale' Run" receives warm welcome

Elite Runners organized "Hulhumale' Run" has attracted a warm welcome from participants.

The run was organized and held last Friday, kicking off from Central Park, Hulhumale'.

Speaking about its event, Elite Runners said this year's edition was successful, attracting sprinters from different age groups, and added all the running heats proceeded smoothly.

More than 300 runners took part in this year's event, Elite Runners confirmed.

Winners of the first three finishers were selected and awarded in the five and 10 kilometers categories.

05-kilometer winners - Men

• First: Mohamed Irufan
• Second: Mohamed Rasheed
• Third: Aaidh Abdulla

05-kilometer winners - Women

• First: Aishath Jinany
• Second: Mariyam Abdul Kareem

10-kilometer winners - Men

• First: Hussain Fazeel
• Second: Shifaz Mohamed
• Third: Mohamed Fawaz

10-kilometer winners - Women

• First: Aishath Rishmy
• Second: Fathmath Nelfa
• Third: Aishath Wishama

Winners of the five and 10 kilometers events received cash prizes. As such, under the 10 kilometers category; first place winner received a cash prize of MVR 7,500, the runner-up received MVR 5,000 and third place winner received MVR 3,500.

In the five-kilometer category, the top winner received MVR 5,000, the runner-up received MVR 3,500, and third place winner received a cash prize of MVR 2,500.

Housing Development Corporation (HDC) partnered with Elite Runners as the event's main partner. State Bank of India (SBI) was the event's Gold Sponsor, while the Coca-Cola Company was among other top sponsors.

Following the success of the event, Elite Runners said it intends to host the run annually, and added the runs will feature electronic timing and race route mapping machines, which will be measured by the Maldives Athletics Association.
