Altercation as police obstructed during drug operation at Fuvahmulah

An altercation broke at Fuvahmulah City on Tuesday night after a group obstructed a counter-drug operation by the Police in the island’s Dhoodigan district.

Police said they were obstructed by a group of people while arresting a suspect they believed to be in possession of drugs.

The group, in this regard, had confronted the officers and obstructed them from discharging their responsibilities. An officer was injured during the altercation.

Police said three arrests have been in connection to the incident which is under investigation by the authority.

The highest priority under the new strategic action plan of the Maldives Police Service inaugurated recently is combatting drugs.
