Several motorbikes parked in the parking zone in front of the parliament building were torched in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Three motorbikes were burned beyond use in the fire, while a van and four additional motorbikes parked in the vicinity of the three motorbikes were also impacted by the fire.
A witness told Sun that MNDF’s Fire and Rescue team arrived at the scene following the fire at approximately 2:55am on Tuesday morning, stressing three of the motorbikes had already burned down at the time of their arrival.
The witness said the suspect fled after torching the motorbikes; a statement later confirmed by the Police this morning.
In a message to the media, the Police said they received a report of some motorcycles being torched at approximately 3:03am this morning.
Police, underscoring no arrests have been made in the case so far, said they have identified the suspect in the case.
The case is under further investigation by the Police.
