Parliament backs MP Riza for JSC membership

The Parliament has voted in favor of nominating Maafushi MP Hussain Riza Adam, as the parliamentary representative at the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).

His name was suggested by Manadhoo MP Husnee Mubarik, and seconded by South Maafannu MP Abdulla Rifau.

Riza’s was the only name nominated during the 15-minute window opened during Monday’s sitting.

His name passed with a unanimous vote of 83.

Riza attained his higher education in the legal field. He previously worked as a registrar at the Criminal Court.

Riza will now need to be officially appointed to the JSC by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.
