According to the Ministry of Homeland Security and Technology, theft incidents were the most reported cases to Maldives Police Service in May this year.
Statistics from the ministry showed 244 cases of theft were reported in May, which is a 15 percent drop from the 285 cases reported in April earlier.
Traffic accident cases were the second-highest reported last month, with a total of 169 cases loedged, which is a notable decline from the 219 cases reported in April.
Drug cases reported last month stood at 88, which is a drop from the 116 cases reported in April.
Law enforcement authority also received 45 cases of property damage, 12 cases of forgery or counterfeiting, 25 cases of fraud, and 30 cases of assault.
Additionally, 13 cases of indecency, 18 cases of domestic abuse, 36 cases of looting, and 78 cases of missing items reported in May.
A total of 794 cases of criminal offenses in 11 different categories were lodged last month, which is an overall drop from April.
