Condition of minor in Ukulhas accident stabilizes

The condition of the minor involved an motorbike accident in AA. Ukulhas on Monday, is stabilizing according to their family.

The minor was riding a motorbike at the recently reclaimed area of Ukulhas when they lost control of the vehicle.

Maldives Police Service on Monday shared with local media, that a 17 year old boy was injured in the accident, who was taken to Ukulhas health center around 14:30hrs.

Immediately after he was taken to the health center, the victim was transported to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) in Male' City where a CT Scan was conducted to check for internal injuries.

A family member of the victim spoke with 'Sun' and said, the boy did not suffer any internal injuries to his skull or brain. He however, sustained injuries externally to his limbs and his head.

The victim is currently treated at an IGMH general patient ward.

According to the family member, the victim is fluent in operating a motorbike, adding the accident took place at the reclaimed zone while he was riding the vehicle along with his friends.

"He skidded after hitting a rock in the reclaimed zone, it is an empty area," the family member commented.

The victim was the only one riding the bike at the time of the accident.

Police said they were investigating the case to assess for further details.
