MET forecasts rainfall across Maldives for Tuesday

Maldives Meteorological Center (MET Office) has forecast rainfall across Maldives for Tuesday as well.

The authority projects heavy rainfall for northern parts of the Maldives in the next 24 hours, while wind speeds are expected to pick up between seven to 17 miles per hour from West-Northwest direction.

Wind speeds are further expected pick pace to 40 miles per hour on rainy days, MET added.

For central and southern parts of the country, winds are expected to pick speeds between 10 to 20 miles per hour from West-Northwest direction.

The seas are expected to be moderately rough, with swells reaching four to seven feet.

MET forecast the rain will last for northern parts until Sunday next week, while thunder and rain are expected for central parts.

The authority advised public to increase precautionary and safety measures for transportation during rainy days when seas are expected to be rougher.

The weather authority also announced a white alert throughout the Maldives now.
