Smoke in Male' City cafe puts 7 in hospital

Maldives Police Service on Monday, has reported seven individuals were taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) for treatment over smoke inhalation.

According to police, the individuals had fallen unconscious inside a cafe' after plumes of smoke leaked through a pipe inside the kitchen.

Police confirmed the incident was reported around 05:50hrs on Sunday dawn at cafe' in Bodurasgefaanu Magu.

The authority further revealed those affected included one Indian, one Sri Lankan, three from Nepal, and two Bangladeshis.

While one of these individuals was taken to ADK Hospital for treatment, police added none of them were in critical condition.

Police said it is now investigating the incident to assess more details.
