An advisory committee has been formed to advise regarding complaints submitted over the former administration’s ‘Binveriya’ and ‘Gedhoruvariya’ housing schemes and the work that needs to be undertaken in connection to it.
Housing Ministry, in a statement on Thursday night, said the committee will be chaired by Aneesa Ahmed, recipient of the Order of the Distinguished Rule of Izzuddin (O.D.R.I.).

The inaugural meeting of the committee was held on Thursday and Abdul Azeez Yoosuf was appointed vice chairperson.
Housing Ministry states it is the Ministry that will oversee the secretariat of the committee.
18,955 individuals are eligible for land under the former administration’s ‘Binveriya’ scheme. 9,003 land plots will be issued to recipients from Hulhumale’, Gulhifalhu and Giraavarufalhu
The publication of the list of the recipients of 4,000 flats developed by Fahi Dhiri Ulhun Corporation (FDC) in Hulhumale’ triggered protests from the public over the point allocation. Following investigations into the complaints, ACC said only 20 percent of the forms were valid.
President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has previously stated that a committee, comprising of trusted individuals, will be formed to ensure flats have been awarded to eligible individuals and verify the validity of the list of recipients.
