President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has promised to run projects in accordance with the aspirations of the residents of Fuvahmulah City, but said that the delivery of the promise depended on winning the upcoming parliamentary elections.

President Muizzu, who is currently on a tour of southern Maldives, made the remarks in a gathering in Fuvahmulah City on Monday night.

Speaking at the gathering, President Muizzu spoke about the ongoing projects in Fuvahmulah, and the city’s developmental needs.

Highlighting on the second phase of the road development project he launched in Fuvahmulah earlier Monday, President Muizzu said he would develop all the roads of the city, and re-design the shore protection project so there are three designated areas for swimming.

He also promised to expand the city’s harbor.

“The work ahead is great. And so is the cost. But it is a fundamental developmental need of this city,” said President Muizzu, while pledging to prioritize the harbor project.

He also pledged to develop a tertiary hospital in Fuvahmulah.

President Muizzu said that it was crucial that the main ruling PNC wins a majority in the next Parliament in order to deliver his pledges.
